FAQ
-
As your doula, I provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support throughout labor. This can include comfort measures like counter-pressure, massage, breathing guidance, movement suggestions, and setting a calming environment. I also offer emotional reassurance, help you understand your options, and support your partner so they can be present and confident, too.
-
Midwives and nurses focus on your medical care—they monitor vital signs, manage the clinical aspects of labor, and ensure safety. A doula is not medical, but focuses entirely on your comfort, confidence, and emotional well-being. I stay by your side throughout labor (unlike shift-based staff), and my role is to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered.)
-
Absolutely. I support all types of births—home, hospital, or birth center; unmedicated, epidural-assisted, or induced. My job is not to push a particular method, but to support your choices and help you feel grounded and informed, no matter how your birth unfolds.
-
Yes! I offer in-home postpartum visits that include emotional check-ins, newborn care tips, feeding support, light household help, and guidance for a smoother transition. I also provide overnight care for restful sleep, and ongoing text support to answer questions or just check in on how you’re doing.
-
To reserve your spot, a non-refundable deposit is required when you book. The remaining balance is typically due by 37 weeks or can be split into a payment plan. I’m happy to work with you to create a schedule that feels manageable.
-
Most families book between 12–25 weeks of pregnancy to ensure availability, especially if they want both doula and photography services. However, if you’re further along, feel free to reach out—if I have room, I’d love to support you!
